I’m so excited once again to be published in Altered Arts magazine! My French themed altered book is in the Fall 09 issue on pages 44, 45 and 47! There was also a nice editors note saying they had trouble choosing and that more of my book would be published in their e-magazine in issues 19, 20 and 21. I’m really thrilled 🙂

The issue is available now in stores and on-line. For more info on Altered Arts Magazine their website is:  http://www.alteredarts.com/

Book Giveaway!!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

This is my first giveaway on my blog and I’m really excited about it! I recently participated in a design challenge put on by Klutz Publications using their new book “Paper Fashions Fantasy” and they’ve generously donated 2 books for me to giveaway to my readers!!

I really LOVE this book and had so much fun working with it! It’s got fantastic plastic templates, papers, ribbons, beads, sequins. glitter glue and cute little hangers, along with ideas and instructions for making paper doll clothes and accessories especially geared toward fairies, princesses, witches and mermaids (right up my alley, right??:)) For the contest I was inspired by my favorite princess Snow White and one of the best villains ever, the Evil Queen. It was really easy to use the templates and supplies that came with the book to make my own versions of these classic outfits. I will definitely be using this book in the future to add fairy wings, witches hats, crowns and more to my stamped and collage creations.

So if you’d like to be entered to win one of these fun books just leave a comment here on this post starting from now until next Wednesday Sept. 16th at midnight EST, one comment per person please. I’ll randomly draw two winners and announce them on the 17th and you’ll be notified by e-mail if you win so I can get your mailing address. Please note that comments need to be approved before they show up, so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment right away, I will approve them all and you will be entered in the drawing. GOOD LUCK!

Challenge Combo

Friday, April 24th, 2009

I’ve been trying to participate lately in more “challenges”, it’s where a website or group picks a theme, idea or product and everyone makes something based around it and then shares their art. It’s so much fun to see all the different ideas others come up with all based around the same theme.

My “Artchix” yahoo group has a current challenge called “Go Fly a Kite” and my Melange team from Etsy has a challenge called “Ticket” and an idea came to me to combine the two and so I made this ATC called “Flight Ticket”.

Please visit the Melange team website and click on the “Mix it up with Melange” post comments section to find links to other participants art work:  http://melangeonetsy.blogspot.com/ each Wednesday a new challenge will be posted.

Buddy can you spare $10?

Friday, April 10th, 2009

If you know me you know I love animals, I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 20 years, have adopted several homeless animals over the years and am a big supporter for any and all causes that help animals. I’ve never done anything like this on my blog before, I always try to focus on artwork, techniques, products, etc. but this is such a worthy cause I thought I’d make a short post about it. There is a *wonderful* mixed media artist named Bernie Berlin and she runs a no kill shelter in TN called A Place to Bark and they are currently having their annual fundraiser. If you have an extra $10 ( or anything you can spare) to send her way it will go to a wonderful place for a wonderful cause. http://www.aplacetobark.blogspot.com/

OK, that’s my PSA:) Thanks !
