Chirp, Chirp, Chirp

What’s that? The sounds of a Cricut?? That’s right, I just got a brand new Cricut Expression 2! I got it to review for Craft Gossip, you can read my complete review over there. (We are also giving one away, details in the link).

So I wanted to share the projects I made with it. The first is a card made using the bunny and banner from the Just a Note cartridge. The stamp is from CTMH.

This is the first scrapbook page I’ve made in quite some time, but since this machine cuts 12″ x 12″ I just had to make one 🙂 It features pictures of my husband and his mom’s sweet dog Sofie who passed away recently, the whole family misses her a lot, she was a wonderful dog! Isn’t that die cut doggie so cute? It’s from The American Alpha. cartridge, the rest of the large background shapes and tags are from the Essentials cartridge.

This last one is a coaster, I got an inexpensive tile from the hardware store and cut black and white vinyl in the fleur de lis shapes from the Essentials cartridge. I was really impressed at how well this machine cut thick Bazzil cardstock and vinyl.

Message in a Bottle

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

I made this card for my brother in law. He enjoys model building and we got him a fun ship in a bottle kit for his birthday so I thought I’d make a matching card. The ship and bottle shapes are both from Silhouette, the compass stamp is from Judi Kins, pattern paper is My Mind’s Eye. I added real sand to the card and covered the bottle in Glossy Accents to give it a real glass look.

I’d like to be, under the sea…..

The latest Lawnscaping challenge theme is “Don’t forget the inside”. I usually do and just stamp a sentiment on the inside of my cards 🙂 On the front of the card I used my Silhouette to cut an SVG from Lettering Delights, it’s part of a submarine, I just enlarged the porthole and cut only it out. I added grey brads for the bolts and a clear transparency sheet underneath for the “glass”. On the inside is the dolphin from the Lawn Fawn “Critters of the Sea” set, along with bubbles and the sentiment.

A Glittery Hello!

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

This is my second card for the current Lawnscaping Challenge, it’s using a sketch from Jennifer R. This card uses the snail from the Critters in the ‘Burbs set (colored with Prismacolor pencils) and the “hello” from the “hello foxy” stamp from the Critters in the Forest set. Along with lots of glitter glue for the snails trail and patterned paper from Making Memories.

Happy Father’s Day

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Here are the cards I made for all the Dads in my life 🙂

This one is for my Dad and I also made a matching one for my Stepdad, they both love to golf. All the shapes are die cut from Silhouette.

This is for my Grandfather, the boat is a Silhouette shape and the compass stamp is from Judikins.

This last one is for my Father in Law, he loves nature and the outdoors. The trees are from Lawn Fawn and the fox is from Hero Arts. I love that fox, he’s so cute!

Hug Me!

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Here’s my latest entry for the current Lawnscaping Challenge, the theme is Clean and Simple. Boy, is that a hard one for me! 🙂 I love pattern paper backgrounds, grunge, embellishments, inking edges, etc., etc. and clean and simple is not my usual style. But I really love the card I made. The little octopus from the Critter of the Sea set is just so cute and she wants to hug you with all eight of her arms 🙂

The pattern paper is from DCWV, the tiny flower and alpha stamps are from Close to My Heart, die cuts from Nestabilities, ribbon from Martha Stewart, home made baker’s twine, octopus and bubbles stamps from Lawn Fawn.

These are the stamps of our lives….

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

I just got some really cute stamps from The Stamps of Life and had fun making a couple of cards with them.

This first card combines two sets “banners4all” and “tress2build”. I used all polka dotted images from both sets to go along with the polka dot paper from Echo Park. I used Close To My Heart Inks for both cards, they really do have the best inks for clear stamps. I love the little birdies, so sweet!

This next card uses the “kites2fly” set, it has lots of different patterns for great combinations. I also love the sayings in this set, lots of uplifting (ha,ha) phrases.

Silhouetting (is that a word?)

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

I’ve been using my Silhouette machine alot lately, I love mixing die cuts with stamps, it’s perfect if I need an image to complete a look I want but don’t have the right/perfect stamp and with the Silhouette I can make it any size I want. I love this machine.

Here’s a few cards I’ve made lately. The first card was for my besties b-day. It mixes a digital image of Marie Antoinette I colored with colored pencils from the Graphics Fairy site, (if you love free vintage images this is a must visit site, it’s awesome!  I linked this to their Brag Monday) along with alphabet stamps and a die cut cupcake from Lettering Delights. I love how it came together.

The next card I made just wanting to play with shapes, the deer is from Lettering Delights, the rest are from Silhouette.

This last card was made for my husbands aunt who works on a horse farm here in KY. One thing I like to do when planning out a card that is all die cuts is to pull all the images I’m planning on using up on the computer screen at once, that way it’s easy to size and lay everything out to make sure it fits and looks good, I got that helpful tip from Nicole Magourik.
