This weeks Lawnscaping Challenge is to use dimension. I just got the Lawn Fawn Critters Ever After set and I ADORE it! I decide to give my card a lot of dimension by making a 3-D pinwheel and adding thick foam dots behind my dragon. All stamps are from Lawn Fawn and the pattern paper is from Cosmo Cricket.

I’m Stuck on You
June 26th, 2012I found the cutest little canvas boards at the craft store a few weeks ago! I’ve used the larger sizes for a long time and was thrilled to find these mini ones. I personally like boards instead of stretched canvas for a lot of projects, they are sturdy and “firm”, you don’t have that sagging in the middle of a regular canvas.
I thought they were the perfect size for magnets so I made a couple of birds and a fairy one too. Perfect for a little art on your fridge or file cabinet.

June 15th, 2012Here’s a charm bracelet inspired by one of my all time favorite authors, Jane Austen. I stamped and shrunk a silhouette of a woman from shrink plastic, soldered two scrabble tiles and added dictionary words to each, along with a hand holding a heart charm and a ink pen nib. I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Reading is FUNdamental
May 29th, 2012In many of the vintage books I find there is usually a sweet picture on the title page of a child or animal reading a book, these make some of my favorite pendants! I love to read and despite the fact that I cut up books for my art I do dearly love books. I always try to find books that are falling apart, unwanted and unloved so I can give them a new life.
Here’s a few new “reading” pendants, both are currently available in my Etsy shop. And be on the look out for lots more new pendants in the coming weeks, I’ve gotten several great books recently with some wonderful illustrations.

Just Some Cards
May 21st, 2012Just wanted to share a couple of cards I made recently.
This one uses a stamp from the Character Construction’s Bird and Bee Paperie line. I adore how the bunny’s tale is poking out in the back! The paper I used is My Mind’s Eye.
The next card uses stamps from Stampin’ Up’s set Just Buzzin’ By. I used a glitter pen on the bee’s wings and liquid dimensional adhesive (aka, liquid glass, crystal lacquer, etc) on the honey to give it some shine. I used Echo Park paper on this one.
Both cards were colored with Prisma Color Pencils and odorless mineral spirits (aka Gamsol)

Charmed, I’m Sure
May 10th, 2012I wanted to share another mixed media charm necklace. It is on a ball chain and has a soldered stamped domino and a soldered round wooden game piece that I added vintage text too as well as a silver charm. I love how these clink around and move as you wear them!

Keep it Clean and Wipe Your Paws

The theme this go ’round over at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog is Clean and Simple. It’s truely a challenge for me since I love to layer, distress, etc. 🙂 But I came up with this card using the dog from Critters in the ‘Burbs, adding some words from CTMH and a paw print punch. I colored the dog with Prisma pencils and added the lines with a thin marker. It’s going to be our Mother’s Day card for my mother in law (who loves dogs and is paws down the best mom in law around!)
