I’ve been holding on to a bunch a sea shells from a trip to Florida years ago and now I know why I saved them! I stamped the mermaid image from “Stampendous” and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers and added glitter to her tail with a clear Starburst gel marker from Sakura. I adhered vintage map pattern paper from CTMH on a 5″ x 7″ canvas board and inked the edges with a sponge and brown stamping ink and then layered the mermaid image on top. Then using a strong clear glue I added the shells around the edges along with a brass star fish charm and also added some real beach sand under her with the same glue. I laid out my shells before I glued them down to make sure they looked nice and would fit. I also added a snippet of text cut from a vintage book that says “Under the Sea”. I think she turned out really lovely.

Sat June 1st from 10am-2pm I’m teaching a collage class at the Raintree Gallery in Versailles KY. If you’re curious about collage this beginners class is perfect for you! We’ll be making two 5″x7″ collages, one with a nature theme (birds, butterflies, fairies, etc), the other using a vintage photo in sepia or black and white tones. A while ago a friend cleaned out her craft closet and gave me lots of cool stuff to play with. One of the things she gave me was a bag of angel wings she’d removed from some old ornaments. It took awhile to figure out what I wanted to do with them but I got the crazy idea to mount a small canvas on the front and I came up with…The Queen of Flight. There’s layers of vintage paper, felt, rhinestones, book text, a vintage button and a charm dangling from the bottom too. I think she’s ready to take flight!

Here’s a collection of new wooden pendants I’ve made. They are 1 1/2″ wide with a vintage book illustration sealed on a round wooden disc. Each has a sterling silver plated bail on the back for hanging on a chain.

Been working on some new collages on vintage BINGO cards. Here’s the first, it’s got a pretty bird and German scrap paper nest, vintage silver button, lace flower and layers of felt and music paper with white washed scrabble tiles. It hangs from pink grommets and wire.

Here’s a couple of Steampunk themed collages I made recently. They both use a cool steampunk girl stamp from Sweet Pea stamps. The larger collage is on a vintage Bingo card with metal gears and cogs, move-able clock hands, it’s hanging from wire on metal grommets with a key charm.
The Art Card is on a reproduction small Bingo card that says Woman’s Auxiliary Air Force, it also has a metal gear.
They are both currently avilabe in my Etsy Shop.

A nearby Art Gallery is having an exhibit/contest for local artists, the theme is Day of the Dead and the medium is Artist Trading Cards (ATC’s). Here are my entries. I used a combination of collage with stamps (traditional and digital) and some copies of vintage clip art.

Been playing around with more new Halloween stamps from Inkadinkado.
I’m in love with the Voodoo Doll stamps, a cute witch and funky cat. I thought they’d make perfect shrink plastic charms so I stamped them on white shrink plastic using Staz-On ink, colored them with colored pencils, punched a hole for the jump rings and strung them on a chain. I also added a small domino with the word “Voodoo”.
This Death Head Moth stamp is spooky but also seemed a little vintage to me, like an insect specimen so I made a collage with a vintage feel with it. It’s on layers of pattern paper embellished with vintage lace, a vintage button and a chipboard label with brads.
This X-Ray of a Trick or Treat bag is just so evil! Along with the candy there is a razor blade in the apple, brass knuckles and a big knife. Probably not a stamp for everyone but I like twisted things so I think it’s really cool 🙂 I added some poison labels cut from some pattern paper and added the color tinting with small sponges and ink.
