Make a Splash!

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

For my birthday this year my hubby got me lots of great stamps, one was an adorable mermaid set from “There She Goes”. I’d never gotten their stamps before but I will be getting more, I love them! I used a few from the set to make my niece’s birthday card. I colored the images with a combination of paper piecing, colored pencils and markers. Adding glitter glue to her tail. The outside says “Make a splash” and the inside says “on your birthday!” Isn’t she cute!?

I (heart) Robot

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

*BEEB BOOP BEEB* Here’s a cute Robot card I made with die cuts from my Silhouette. I made a hinge in his chest so it opens up with a stamped “I love you” inside. I added brads for his “bolts”. I love the notebook edge die, isn’t it cool? All die cuts are from Silhouette, pattern paper from My Minds Eye, the stamp sentiment is from The Stamps of Life.

Here are the cards I made for all the Dads in my life 🙂

This one is for my Dad and I also made a matching one for my Stepdad, they both love to golf. All the shapes are die cut from Silhouette.

This is for my Grandfather, the boat is a Silhouette shape and the compass stamp is from Judikins.

This last one is for my Father in Law, he loves nature and the outdoors. The trees are from Lawn Fawn and the fox is from Hero Arts. I love that fox, he’s so cute!

These are the stamps of our lives….

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

I just got some really cute stamps from The Stamps of Life and had fun making a couple of cards with them.

This first card combines two sets “banners4all” and “tress2build”. I used all polka dotted images from both sets to go along with the polka dot paper from Echo Park. I used Close To My Heart Inks for both cards, they really do have the best inks for clear stamps. I love the little birdies, so sweet!

This next card uses the “kites2fly” set, it has lots of different patterns for great combinations. I also love the sayings in this set, lots of uplifting (ha,ha) phrases.

Silhouetting (is that a word?)

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

I’ve been using my Silhouette machine alot lately, I love mixing die cuts with stamps, it’s perfect if I need an image to complete a look I want but don’t have the right/perfect stamp and with the Silhouette I can make it any size I want. I love this machine.

Here’s a few cards I’ve made lately. The first card was for my besties b-day. It mixes a digital image of Marie Antoinette I colored with colored pencils from the Graphics Fairy site, (if you love free vintage images this is a must visit site, it’s awesome!  I linked this to their Brag Monday) along with alphabet stamps and a die cut cupcake from Lettering Delights. I love how it came together.

The next card I made just wanting to play with shapes, the deer is from Lettering Delights, the rest are from Silhouette.

This last card was made for my husbands aunt who works on a horse farm here in KY. One thing I like to do when planning out a card that is all die cuts is to pull all the images I’m planning on using up on the computer screen at once, that way it’s easy to size and lay everything out to make sure it fits and looks good, I got that helpful tip from Nicole Magourik.

Greetings!

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Are you ready for the holidays? The house is decorated, I’ve gotten all my gifts bought and wrapped, and my cards made and mailed, I think I’m ready! I wanted to share a few of my holiday cards with you today.

This first one was inspired by Tim Holtz (I love his 12 Tags of Christmas each year!) I stamped the image (from Recollections) with black Staz-On ink and then took cosmetic sponges to rub the red and green inks over the images, blending as I went. I added some sparkle with Tim’s Distressed Stickles too.

This next one I stamped the snow globe and snowman (from Inkadinkado) on vellum and colored on the backside of the vellum with colored pencils, it gives it a nice soft look.

This cute little scene was put together from stamps from a few different companies, the deer is Colorbox, the snowflakes and text from Inkdinkado, the tree and bird from Close To My Heart. The deer was kinda of plain so I used a black marker to add his eyes and spots, it helped give him more dimension. The berries on the tree were made with the blunt end of a red marker and I added Stickles to the branches and on the ground around the tree and deer for lots of sparkle.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!!

Wonderland and Giveaway

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Over at my blogging job as stamp editor at Craft Gossip I got the opportunity to review (and keep!!:)) a Silhouette die cutting machine. I am in love with this machine, it’s amazing! The generous people at Silhouette not only gave one to me but are also giving one away over at Craft Gossip. I wanted to give my readers a heads up, so follow this link and read my review and then leave a comment (at Craft Gossip not here) to be entered.

Here is my first project made with my new Silhouette, no surprise it’s an Alice and Wonderland theme! 🙂 I made an accordion card and cut out all the fun Wonderland characters with card stock and patterned paper with the Silhouette.

The Queen Likes to Play Games too

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Here’s a fun collage with an image of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland that I cut from a really cool old children’s pop up book I found. She’s surrounded by roses, tiny playing cards and real scrabble tiles. The background is a vintage bingo card, I added small metal eyelets to each corner that have different playing card suits. I attached red wire to the top to hang it from.

My Collagey Valentine

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Made a couple of collage art Valentine cards today.

The first one is an image of a vintage couple, I mounted them on scallop edged black paper to look more like the old photos that have that type of edge, added some vintage lace and a pink paper heart with the word “love” cut from an old book. The background is vintage music paper that’s been stitched onto cardstock on my sewing machine and then mounted onto a pink card. There is also an old looking key tied with pink rick rack ribbon. The inside of the cards says “You hold the key to my HEART”

The next one is another of my felt owls (I’ve done other cards and ATC’s with him) sitting on a stamped branch, he’s also on vintage music paper surrounded by falling pink stamped hearts that’s stitched onto cardstock and mounted on a pink card. The outside says “Whooo Loves You” and the inside says “I do!”.

All stamps used are by Close To My Heart
