Spooky Art Cards

Monday, September 21st, 2009

I just finished some fun art cards (atc or aceos measuring 2 1/2 x 3 1/2) for Halloween.

The first is a captured Halloween fairy in a jar, I stamped the jar on transparency and adhered it with tiny brads to vintage book paper and cardstock.

These next two use images from Tim Holtz’ Doo Dad line, I made the little girl a witch and the boy a wizard with bat wings, both have silver star and rhinestone embellishments and old fashioned stamped labels. They are on backgrounds of vintage book paper with stamped stars and orange and black cardstocks I sewed together on the sewing machine with zig zag stitches.

Under a Smiling Moon

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Here’s a fun wooden shadow box I made recently. I painted the box grey and then painted crackle paint over that and then inked it to add some more age to it. I had some neat silver tinsel garland and adhered that around the edges of the box. Inside the box I turned an image of a little girl into a witch by adding a black hat and broom and also added a silver smiling moon charm and some black alphabet beads that spell out “Happy Halloween”.

Spellbook

Friday, September 4th, 2009

I had a cute little paper mache book ornament that I’d been hanging on to, not sure what to do with it and I finally got the idea to make it into a spellbook for Halloween. I painted the entire book grey and then added crackle paint to the outside, and adhered silver tinsels around the sides. On the front I added an image of a little girl and put a purple witches hat eyelet on her head, I put a purple rhinestone in the hole of the eyelet to cover it up:) I stamped a few skulls on the front with Staz-on ink and added pink and purple rhinestones to their eyes. On the side I added a vintage looking stamped label and wrote “Spellbook”. I thought inside the little witch could be hiding a secret and so I filled a tiny glass bottle with beads and glitter and added some fibers to the top and a tiny label that says “poison” *insert evil witchy laugh* 😉 I think it turned out cute!

Getting a Jump on Halloween

Friday, August 28th, 2009

My favorite holiday is Halloween, so much so my hubby and I got married the evening before. I can’t believe that was almost 5 years ago now 🙂  I really think I could make Halloween art all year round so I love to get a early start on items for my Etsy shop.

Here’s more of the soldered pendants I’ve been working on:

A couple more dictionary illustration, this time a black bird. On the back I added sheet music and the words “blackbird singing” for a Beatles inspiration

an adorable tiny bat illustration ( I LOVE this one so much!:))

The rest are vintage illustrations from a children’s story book.

A witch riding her broom in front of the moon, I added the words “happy Halloween”

A big happy smiling Jack O Lantern

a cute black kitten with a big orange pumpkin, I added the word “boo”

Look it up in the Dictionary

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Wow, where has August gone?? I’ve been so busy and I’ve really neglected my blog, sorry!

This week I was a soldering fool 🙂 and made a ton of new pendants, I’ll be posting them here and for sale in my Etsy shop ( http://www.PisforPaper.etsy.com ) over the next week or so. I wanted to get a little early start on Halloween so alot of them are for my favorite holiday, Halloween!

I’ve been continuing to cut up the fabulous vintage dictionary I got awhile ago and here are a few pendants with some of the wonderful illustrations.

This is very Poe inspired, plus I have a thing for ravens and crows. The back includes the definition for “nevermore”
