New Chapeau

Here’s a shrine box I recently finished, I reused a mint tin and painted it brown and then added book pages from a vintage French text book to the insides and front. I added a small metal frame with a picture of the Eiffel Tower on the front of the box. On the inside  left did a collage with some torn vintage travel tickets, postage stamp and postage cancellation rubber stamp. On the right side I did a collage of a woman standing in front of the Eiffel Tower wearing a big lovely hat, I added words from the French book that say “Yes, it’s a beautiful hat”, another postage cancellation and a souvenir sticker.

More Paris

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I made this ATC for a Travel theme challenge and I guess I still had Paris on my mind:)

The background is cardstock with a scrapbook paper that looks like an old French map. The car is a Tim Holtz stamp, I added an image of a woman driving and then added liquid glass (a clear dimensional adhesive) to all the windows to make them more realistic. I also added a brass charm of the Arch D’ Triumph and the words “Ooh-la-la” embossed in my label maker.

Ooh La La

One of my favorite companies for collage supplies is Artchix Studio, you can check out their website here:

http://www.artchixstudio.com

and the owner Helga has a wonderful blog as well: http://www.myartisticlife.typepad.com/ where she has art challenges and her current one is a Paris theme so I thought I’d post one of  soldered collage pendants for this challenge. If you have a blog you might like to participate as well, see her blog for more info.

I love Paris as a theme and for this piece I used a page from a vintage French text book for the background and layered on top an image of the Eiffel Tower on black cardstock and then added an image a couple in love and the word “love” cut from a vintage book. I also stamped a postage cancellation onto the front piece of glass itself using Staz-On ink. The Eiffel Tower and couple images are both from Artchix collage sheets.
